Origin of the Peace Symbol
Gerald Herbert Holtom was a British professional designer and artist. In 1958 he designed the logo of the British Campaign
for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), which became an international peace symbol.
The Peace Symbol quickly entered into American Culture with the growth of the Anti - War Mood of the 1960s. There arose a sentiment that it was unpatriotic because of the resistance to the Vietnam War. Many adorned the symbol in protest.
Today we seem to still be facing this same threat, as Nations are boosting their Nuclear Arsenals
