Empress Livia, one could say, was 'for the birds'.... Her villa at Prima Porta near Rome had 4 expansive walls of an entire room dedicated to depicting beautiful birds and flora....

Roman art is not just the art of the emperors, senators, and aristocracy, but of all the peoples of Rome's vast empire, including middle-class businessmen, freedmen, slaves, and soldiers in Italy and the provinces.
I just love the fact that they had entire scenes of nature painted on their walls.
